Oh Baby!!

This is the card that I made for a work colleague who is pregnant.  It's her last week with us for a while, so we held a special morning tea and a surprise baby shower for her. I CASED this card from a swap I received at convention from Meegan Dale. Meegan doesn't have a blog, but if you want to contact her, you can do so HEREThere wasn't a lot of stamping and it was very quick and easy to make.  Thanks Meegan for the great idea!!

Make-over

Do you like my new blog make-over?  My daughter Nicole gave it a new look and it only took her minutes to do!!  If  I'd done it, it would have taken me much longer, I assure you!

I really appreciate Nicole helping me out because I know she's been a bit crazy busy lately. She's heading off on a big adventure on Wednesday 21 July (in 24 short days time, which I know are going to zoom by) on an overseas student exchange, to the little town of Emmetsburg, in the state of Iowa, USA for 6 months. And, as if that isn't long enough, she then goes to Germany for 6 months. We don't know where in Germany at this stage.

To say I'm going to miss her is an understatement, but it's a trip of a lifetime and she'll have a fantastic time. The fact that she's going so far away seems quite surreal and the time until she leaves is going by too fast. There are so many things to do and so little time to do it. So, if I neglect to post as regularly as usual, you'll understand that I've got a very good excuse...Anyway, if you want to learn more about Nicole's exchange - check out her blog here... It makes a good read and gives you a bit more of an insight of where she's going.

And, in case any of you are wondering - no, there isn't a SU! demonstrator in Emmetsburg. I couldn't resist having a peek at their locator. The closest demo is in a town called Rolfe which is 23 miles (37 kms) away. No harm in looking..

Hope you're enjoying your weekend.

It was my nephew's birthday during the week and this is the card I sent him. I love this set and have been waiting for an excuse to use it. I coloured the robot in with silver encore ink and a blender pen and then covered it with crystal effects to give it an aluminium look.

Thank You

I cased this card from a swap I received at convention because I needed a thank you card in a hurry and my brain wouldn't kick into gear.  That's one of the great things about swapping, is that you're never short of an idea.  This is one of my favourite swaps and I received it from Jennifer Adnitt. Pop over and have a look at her blog HERE and the other stunning creations she's made.  My medallion background stamp has come out quite dark whereas Jennifer's was a lot more subtle. I had several attempts too, but maybe because my ink pad hadn't been used before (shame on me!!), and if I stamped it off, then it was too pale. Oh well, you get the gist and I still love it!

Stamp set: Medallion. En Francais, Tiny Tags
Card stock: Pink Pirouette, Going Grey
Ink: Going Grey
Other: Half Pearls (from the Pretties kit), Medium Jewellery Tag Punch, Basic Grey Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Circle Punch

Until next time - happy stampin'

On Reflection

This was a card that I cased from Michelle Zindorf.  Michelle is an amazing artist!!  Check her blog out HERE and you'll know what I'm talking about. I didn't quite do it justice - but since it's my only my 2nd ever attempt at a reflection card, I'm quite pleased with the result.  There is certainly room for improvement, so I'll keep practising.  Also, Michelle is a master at using the brayer.  I'm not, so cheated a bit and sponged instead.

Stamp set: Bird on a Branch (only $39.95 for 5 stamps)
Cardstock: Brilliant Blue, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Ink: Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Regal Rose, Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, Brilliant Blue
Other: Stamp-a-ma jig (SAMJ), Signo white gel pen, Acetate

Crazy for Cupcakes!!

Here's another favourite swap I receive while at convention. It's from a lovely lady we met from Wellington - Judith Hutchinson. Unfortunately, Judith doesn't have a blog but you can email her here if you need to ask her about her gorgeous card.

I love the bright colours and the glittered icing (Dazzling Diamonds mixed with Crystal Effects) on the cupcake which makes it really sparkle!.  It looks almost good enough to eat....

Gorgeous Hawaiian Shirt!!

Isn't this card adorable!!  It looks so complicated but I'm assured it's not. The creator of this is Chrissy Graham from Australia and is another of my favourite swaps from Convention.  This card is vibrant, bright and beautiful!!  And, don't you love the lei ~ made from the Trio Flower Punch. The message is from the Upsy Daisy stamp set.

Sex and the City...

When I went to convention in Sydney, I stayed an extra week afterwards. During that time, I stayed with my good friend Rhonda who loves crafting almost as much as I do. We were lucky enough (and cheeky enough) to attend a class with a lovely demonstrator Juliette Chapman. I rang Juliette one evening because we had spied her adorable "Sex and the City" class on her blog.  She was so kind enough to run the class just for Rhonda and myself. Here's Juliette and Rhonda with the finished products. Aren't they adorable!!

Thank you so much Juliette - we had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and it was wonderful to meet you.  So, if there are any Australians out there reading this, from the Hills district in Sydney - contact Juliette
HERE to attend one of her fabulous classes. You won't be disappointed!!

And, keep an eye out on my class listings - because I'll be running this class myself in the not too distant future.

Upsy Daisy Calendar

I've been back from Sydney for exactly a week as of this evening.  I stayed on for an extra week after Convention which was amazing and thoroughly enjoyable, but I feel as though I hit the ground running on my return. Thank goodness this has been a long weekend, because at least I've managed a bit of a catch up and feel as though I'm back to some kind of normality.

Anyway, back to the task at hand.....I received this lovely calendar as one of my swaps from convention. It was made by Lana Harvey from Australia (check out her blog here) and was a favourite with my daughters, fellow demo's and myself.  I love the colours used which are Pink Pirouette, a touch of Pixie Pink on the tips of the flowers and Old Olive.  The little butterflies are from the Cottage Garden stamp set. Not sure if you can see the background which has been embossed with the Big Shot Manhatten Flower die. Totally gorgeous!!
